Videoendoscopy
Videoendoscopy means taking video images by use of a flexible long tube with a small camera at the tip of internal areas such as the stomach, bladder, lungs, upper airways, uterus, among others. The images are transferred and visualized on a large TV screen which allows more detailed visualization of the area and also allows for other participants of the exam to simultaneously see and understand the problems as they are identified by the veterinarian. The images can be frozen and printed or recorded as a short video on a disk for record keeping and future comparisons. With an ultra-modern 3 meter videoendoscope we are able to visualize many important sites in equine patients. A few conditions that may be diagnosed with videoendoscopy are:
- Gastric (stomach) ulcers
- Bladder or lower urogenital tract stones and tumors
- Lung disorders (infections and allergies)
- Sinus infections
- Ethmoidal hematomas
- Guttural pouch disorders
- Upper respiratory tumors
- Uterine disorders
